  9. RUN
    alright 4 mi

Hot and humid today - 90 degrees at 7.30am - ugh. Decided not to run the 5 mile race as I would not really be able to "race" it in these conditions. Felt like the $30 registration fee ... read more

Those conditions are just not meant for racing. Period. You got 4 in and hope you can get some more in tomorrow. But now is not the time to try and be a hero. Acclimation is the goal and then things get a bit better.

Great 4 Rachel! 90 degrees so early in the morning sounds harsh. I wouldn't want to try braving those temperatures:s

Super 6. Training for the longer runs is very time consuming and can really drain you both physically and emotionally. We ultimately run to be happier ... well done on choosing what make you feel better.

    alright Minuteman Bikeway- Medford/Ar... 10 mi 01:27 08:41 pace

Another not so great run. Glad to have it done. Felt really dehydrated again - it's definitely from my allergy meds. Does anyone here use nuun tablets? Thinking of trying them out this nex... read more

Rachel--not sure what didn't make this run great but I can tell you from 1st hand experience that my worst runs have been if I wasn't properly hydrated. I use Nuun--on every long run and in every race. I love it--can't recommend it highly enough. And as far as the race goes--bad long runs do not mean a bad race at all. You have done solid training and have a competitive enough spirit that I think you will go out there and have a great day.

Sorry Rachel - looks like a good run to me but I definately understand that if you say it wasn't than it wasn't :)) I Pace isn't always the determining factor. I can't attest to the tablets but I hope they work for you!!

"The body does strange things pre-race. No worries. :) Have fun this weekend!" was some great advice given me by an experienced ultra athlete friend this past week. She is so right. You are well trained and prepared, Rachel. I offer you the same advice and am getting excited for your race to come.

So sorry your allergies are bothering you! I guess it is that time of year. 12 on the TM would not be fun, but mentally I think you will feel a whole lot better if you did get one more 12-miler in before your HM. That being said, I fully believe you are ready to race that to your fullest potential even without the last 12-miler. Go with your gut when the time comes. Nice 4 under your belt today Rachel.

I agree with Marcie that right now you a primed and ready to run a kick butt HM. With or without the 12'er. But I know how you feel. Since you need to stay inside for now perhaps a shorter but high intensity workout or a morning and evening 6 miler will help. Either way be confident in where you are now. go back and look at your training logs. You got this ...
