Weeks leading up, I wanted to try to PR this race. With no definite workouts or training runs leading up to it, I decided (on race hour!) that I was going to try and keep up with my friend Ann, who was pacing her friends (she said she'd do a 9 min/mile pace). Well, I ended up going too fast too soon (around 8min/mile), I fell back and then petered out just after mile 2. The weather was also a factor but 90% was my fitness level (or lack-thereof) LOL. Splits: 1mi - 8:17.9; 2mi - 8:38.5; 3mi - 9:56.3! LOL. Still, I was 8th out of 59 women in my age group (there were around 1100 runners, and around 3k walkers)
