  3. {Blogged} Training for Fall Races (July 20-26)

Sounds like a great week of training. I learned something this week - I've never minded running in the hot weather, but racing in it is another story. I ran a 5K on Saturday that started late morning during a heat wave. There was no shade, it was hilly, and I felt like I was going to die after mile 1. Ouch! You southerners are bada**es.

Thanks! I really don't think much of the heat anymore. It's hard to get used to but eventually you just... slow down. I've always lived in the South, so I guess now that it's been 29 summers here, I should be acclimated, haha. I don't know how anyone who has a legit winter deals with it. I had to wear pants for 2 runs last winter and even that was 2 runs too many ;).

great Church of Onshore 8 mi 01:09 08:34 pace

This run was a victory because I got my Garmin to stop at exactly 8 miles and not 8.01. That's like the second time this has ever happened...

Besides that, I kept a nice steady pace. Trying ... read more

alright Good Morning Charleston 7.15 mi 01:03 08:50 pace

Thankful to live in a construction zone with a porta potty on the route, even if I had to wait on a construction worker (who says men don't take forever in the bathroom).
