{Blogged} 4th Annual Race for Taylor Recap

Love this class, Yin/Yaga yoga at the Charleston Yoga House! The teachers and classes are a great asset to the community here in West Ashley.
Rural West Ashley is the flattest, most humid, place I have ever lived (not that I've ever lived outside SC, mind you). Even sweatier than I was yesterday after racing a 10K! Nice conversation... read more

Gonna take next week and cross train or run easy with others. It's been fun crossing workouts off an 8 week plan for the past 8 weeks to PR for today, but I need a mental and physical training... read more

P to the R, baby. Tiny Terror strikes again!
My legs reside in Rural West Ashley and we don't have lil' rollers like those hills in Mile 3 of this 10K.
Think the timing was a bit off, ... read more

Negative split run around the neighborhood. Holy humidity, summer has hit Charleston.
The heat & humidity are definitely here once again! My evenings runs are getting pushed later & later!

Negative split run is where you start out slower and gradually get faster. My 2nd mile was faster than my 1st, and my .47 was faster pace than my 2nd mile.

Oh- well then apparently I have done some of that...or maybe what I have done is more correctly defined as intervals. I haven't timed each mile to see if one was faster than another. I have felt like I increased my pace and kept it up in the middle of a run.

"Easy 5K" around the neighborhood, mostly to try out a pair of shoes and to measure a couple streets. One year ago, that was my 5K race pace, on a good day.

Yin/Yang yoga... involves holding the poses for a really long time. Really relaxing practice tonight, really good for runners with tight hips, hint hint. More runners really should do yoga...
Awesome! I LOVE yang/yin. Well, I love yin, but I also appreciate some yang haha.

Yeah I mostly went for the Yin part... it was like 25% yang, 75% yin tonight so I liked that. The girl who teaches it is super nice and told me it would be good for runners!

Oh I should probably look into this - tight hips was one of the causes of my groin injury :( Love the name! haha

You really should- yin is great for runners. Yang is the first part, it was basically a few sun salutations/flow. The teacher talks about different spiritual type things while you're holding the poses and they play music, so it's not super boring or anything like that. It releases a lot of myofascial tension from deep within the muscles.
1 mile w/u... 2 min fast / 1 min rec X 6, 12 min. cooldown. Easy peasy until Saturday =D.

Shakeout to meet weekly mileage goal and get used to the heat. Holy humidity!
It may seem silly, but seeing you run back to do that meant a lot to me. Thank you for supporting so many in such a generous way.
