Well.... The results are in.... I am NOT Superwoman. LOL! My little one is closing out day 5 with me. LOADS of learning lessons on my part - maybe hers too. Her adoption won't be final for a bit, so unfortunately, I can't place her photo on public forums. But short of some distant relative popping up at the last minute, she's mine. She is adorable, engaging and ACTIVE. OY!!!! I hadn't changed diapers since my niece was a baby - she's 24. But in the past few days I've dealt with baby constipation, the runs.... and countless wet diapers. Wow!!!

I did purchase Insanity just before she arrived, with the plan of having this substitute for the mileage with my runs. And I'm HOPING I can start it next week... some time.... I really miss the consistency of my running, but honestly, I'm struggling with everything. I did take her on two runs with the jog stroller (4 miles in San Pedro/6 at Huntington/Redondo beaches). She loved it, though my pace slowed a bit pushing this happy, "thick" baby. LOL!

I have two more weeks at home before heading back to the office. Trina (later to be named Naomi Gabrielle) is so active that I can only handle e-mails, phone calls, etc during her 2 hour nap and when she goes to sleep at night. I'm figuring it out though. Yesterday a coworker/friend compared me to Diane Keaton in "Baby Boom"...... Not as glamourous as the movie, but I get it. LOL! I'm totally clueless on so many things - or should I say I'm just sleep deprived... Like yesterday, I insisted on handling an annual division meeting via calling in. It was nap time for Trina. She was having her typical fit about going to sleep (she's having some separation anxiety). Ten minutes after putting her down I went back in her room to soothe her crying and said "Go to sleep" as she was wailing..... the phone was NOT on mute. BWAH!!!! My coworkers (it appears) were ROTFL..... I, on the other hand, was really embarrassed.

Anyway..... I'm figuring it out and will post and check activities with others in the coming week. In the meantime.... please bare with me..... I'll be happy when I can wedge more consistent workouts in again.

you're still getting exercise, just in a new way -- those little ones wear you out physically and emotionally, don't worry about getting in the miles, enjoy the new baby when she comes, I promise you won't regret choosing time with her over mileage goals. Meanwhile, I will pray that all goes well and you have that new baby in your arms soon.

my recollection is that there is nothing quite so humbling as having one's first child. Oh wait, there was the 2nd child .... just when i thought i had the whole dad thing figured out, honorable #2 is so different the rules dont apply any more! best of luck on the adjustments. and, my guess? she won't grow up "thick" if the primary influencer in her life is a runner. :)

Thanks everyone!! I haven't gotten a workout in since Thursday. I'm actually having my standard evening "chill" - baby is sleep (I hear her snoring via the baby monitor). Each night after putting her to sleep AFTER her 10 minute meltdown... I mop floors, clean sippie cups, wash clothes and handle e-mails... When will I return to working out???? Oy!!! I have a planned Tuesday morning run. From the looks of her whining and patting the jog stroller, she's looking forward to it too! Maybe she'll be a runner!!

What a wonderful reason to downshift the running and exercise for awhile. Not to mention babies are a great way to build up those arms and back muscles. Congratulations, Paula!!

Hey Paula!! I've been thinking of you!!! Mines are very young and were yours' age not long ago so I knew you would be very busy and not have much time for DM! Hang in there! You get used to it, not easier.
