Well, I did set a PR for a cross-country 5K. On the other hand, that's because it was my first cross-country 5K.
Trail running is much harder than I expected it to be -- especially in the heat of summer -- but I'm beginning to like it. It's challenging, and the courses are generally pretty and fun to run. I think running the hills and traipsing through the uneven ground is a good workout. Now I have to look out for trail runs in my neighborhood.
That being said, may I add this: A plum may be the best after-run snack ever. It's mostly water, so it hydrates and is refreshing in the heat and humidity. It has sugar and fiber, so it adds those back to your body. It's fruit, so you know it has other good things in it, with few drawbacks. Plus, it may be the best tasting fruit out there.
