Felt really good. I tried to take it easy, but I ended up pushing a little harder. It is fun to run. :D

Yes - I'm trying to decide how much to run between then and now and hoping it won't be weather like this morning. Here's what I was thinking ... tell me what you think. Today a fast run... just over a mile or so. Tomorrow - 5K and try to run it like I would the TT. Sunday ... no running (yoga or pilates). Monday 3 miles - easy run. Tuesday ... short run. Wed. no running (yoga or pilates). I know it's only a 5K but it's my first and I want to be ready and do as well as I can.

It is hard to say given the circumstances. You are new to running, but you are only doing a 5K. Your plan sounds ok except for the short \ fast run. If all you are doing is 1 mile and doing it fast, then you will be done in like 10 minutes. I think you get a lot more out of a workout if you do at least 30 minutes. The body needs time to get worked up and start burning fat. 10 min is better than nothing, but I would do at least 30 min. I think you will do fine in the 5k.

Gordon - right I agree... I really just want to do the short fast run for fun to see how fast I can do it, although the conditions today aren't the best. I think I would then come in a do a DVD workout for the extra work.

Sounds like fun. I plan on doing a workout where I run for a mile as fast as I can too. We have been talking about it for a while. You should do a good 5 or 10 minutes of warm-up (and some good stretching) before you really try to run as fast as you can. Let me know what your time is for the mile. I am hoping to get under 7 minutes on mine.
