great Aerobic base heart rate training today at the track. 2.4 mi

Hi DM gang!

This is week two of five weeks for heart rate training. My posture felt strong & tall. Something clicked for me, today. I stayed right at my heart rate of 138 with out any fluctuation. Last week I found it tough to stay as close to my heart rate as possible. Today was much easier though.

Each day last week including today my time has improved. It's a different pace running to my heart rate than if I were running "regularly." It is obviously much slower. Before I started training this way my avg. pace was between 11:40 and 12:13. As improve my time running to my heart rate, then my "regular" pace will improve also.

For example, my aerobic base running, at my heart rate of 138, is as follows:

Time trial: 1 mi. 16:42 pace 16.37 min.
Run I: 2.28 mi. 17:35 pace 40.00 min.
Run II: 2.42 mi. 16:35 pace 40.00 min.
Run 111: 2.50 mi. 16:02 pace 40.00 min.

Today
Run IV: 2.75 mi. 15.25 pace 40.00 min

Not to mention that I am gaining on my mileage in less time too.

This training is worth the commitment as well as the mild frustration I felt in the beginning. It is gearing me up for races as well as training my body to burn fat rather than sugar on longer races. This is getting interesting. I am pumped to see the improvement!
