Knee has been creaky (not awful, but been nagging for a couple of weeks). Ah, the joys of turning 40. It is true what they say about your body's warranty.

Nice day for a run. Felt o.k., but a bit rusty.

  5. RUN
Brandywine Creek State Park 8 mi

Squeezed in 8 rugged trail miles on my 40th. Was hoping for more, but turned my ankle on a boulder on mile 6 and didn't want to do anything stupid for once. Felt good to be back out there.

  6. RUN
National Mall (Washington D.C.) 7.1 mi

Ran some with my buddy, Dan, and some on my own. Hit a bunch of monuments (Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, etc). Not as brutally humid as expected.

Not a lot of shade around there, except when you run behind a monument!

True, Joe. Fortunately, there was a light breeze, and the treeline down the Mall from the Capitol provided some good shade. We had to sweat out some beers from a mini-SoSH gathering the day before.

Sack up and do some hill intervals. After that run the stairs at the local HS football stadium. That will test how sore they really are :)
Keep up these nice recovery runs and enjoy your accomplishment. You EARNED those sore quads.

You just made my mere flat 26.2 miles seem much more do-able. Just... holy crap dude. I need a beer just after reading that. That's amazing.

This is so incredible. The Garmin graph would be fascinating to see. There is just so much to be proud of in your adventure. The experience your group went through together is something so few could even dream of doing. I can only imagine the feeling when you first saw the finish line and what those last few yards were like. Thanks for posting this. Hopefully you'll be able to find a few good pics as well.
