Swimming at the YMCA 0.62 mi 00:30 48:23 pace

Didn't have a lot of time this morning, had to get on the road for the holiday.

I used my paddles for about 500 meters to give my arms a workout. Felt good.

Have a happy 4th of July everyone.

Great experience. The kicking, punching, and touching is very real. I call it being in the washing machine. The more you can get comfortable with people being close, the better off you are. Definitely think about a different band on the watch.

Thanks Tabatha. I think on race days I'm gonna switch to the normal band and take the quick release off. When I ride I like seeing the garmin on the handlebar and not having to look at my wrist. But in the race it'll be fine. I think it'll be worth the piece of mind. The washing machine....sounds about right. How's the new bike? Gotta name yet?

Thanks Steve. I guess it was kind of a brick. Thou I had about 30 minutes after my ride to drive over to the park to play. I was afraid I'd stiffen up on the ride more than anything. @madison thanks. Looking at the GPS map was funny. It's just a solid red blur all over the field.

sounds so so fun!!!sorry about the blister- I've read about the "needle and thread" option to drain the blister (it would allow the skin to "stay open" until the blister drains completely) but I've never used it (some believe it could be a potential way to infection...don't know).

I totally agree Kim. Yeah the swim may be a bit challenging in a crowd. But I figure I'll be like a salmon swimming in a stream. You know I've done really big races and I like the company. When I did my relay race this April I was the ONLY runner for this one 4 mile leg and I was weird. I was in a town I didn't know and had to follow a course I wasn't sure of. Freaked me out I was gonna get lost.

Back in the 90s Gatorade had the "be like Mike" as a way to say drink gatorade and be like Michael Jordan, and being in Chicago he was HUGE here. Big everywhere, but HUGE here in Chicago. So what do you drink Luna? Are you a Nuun person?

:-) I think the commercial was different in Italy, but "Mike" was "huge" over here as well, especially because, in the neighborhood where I grew up, basketball was "THE" game --and that's not the standard here.Every kid wanted to have Air Jordans LOL :D I'm not a Nuun fan, I tried it but don't like it, my fav is Zym, but the UK store where I used to buy it from stopped carrying it,so now I'm experimenting... I prefer no sugar and yes caffeine ;-) (caffeine from guarana, like zym,is hard to find)

The main reason I don't like biking is that there is always something indeed. Usually mechanical. Something breaks, or a tire gets a flat (of course, the rear one). Swimming and running, it's just the athlete, nothing else.

Sorry about the road rash :-( But I think it's better than end up under the wheels of some maniac. Also, one needs yo sustain a certain speed to be able to unclip, so of course breaking hard will have the opposite effect, one will always fall because it's impossible to unclip.
