Running on only 2 apples for breakfast after cycling to work was tougher than I expected it would be. Another hot day out there.

Perfect conditions for London Marathon day and also for jogging along the Thames South Embankment through Wandsworth to Battersea. Still relaxing into it after Brighton.

Congrats on the PR Oli! Pretty awesome comeback considering where you were at the start of the year with the injuries. Great goal for VLM next year too. Wonder if you will still be targeting that after the first 6 months of parenthood! ;-)
Talking which are you a Dad yet then?

Easy few runs so far, with 2m at MP last night, then last run is tomorrow, 3 mins flat out, then get some carbs in me straight after. Seems to work pretty well for me.

Love the crazyness of your carb loading plan! I got quite anal about pre-race nutrition when into Ironman racing but just eat normally for runs.

Did you do this at the track session? Sounds an interesting one...especially the marathon prediction piece..

Yes - it was the planned session although I think I was the only one following the full protocol. I read about this years ago but never gave it a go so I was keen. Personally I now doubt the prediction as I was taking short recoverys (less than 2.30 mostly) and consistenly running 2.40 or under and I'm certain I can't run a sub 2h40 marathon.

You're right, it's pretty hard to see how it can relate to marathon performance. Think you should have added a yet to the end of that last sentence ;)

Nice one Oli thanks! Plenty of hills round here so will try the stress test. Was listening to the latest TalkUltra with Dr Maffetone on today's run which was quite enlightening. Have a good weekend.

Yes, I did a lot of Maf HR training when I was into Ironman but as it happened that was my natural endurance zone anyway.
