BRUTAL. Legs felt like they completely forgot how to run. Ankle was sore right at .25 miles. Stretched/walked that out. Calves - mostly the fronts - were tight as bass strings. Finally loosened up a little after 2 miles, but by then, my head just wasn't in it. Was hoping to run closer to 5 miles. Oh well. These runs happen.

Was that your first marathon? It took me a long time to recover from my first race. It gets easier with experience!

Second marathon. I gave blood and ran 7 miles of a relay in the week after my first. But I did push this one much harder, so longer recovery is to be expected, I guess. I also think I underestimated the amount of work I did around the house in the preceding days. Lots of cleaning, bending, carrying, and doing stairs. Bad runs happen. We move on and see what tomorrow brings.
