3xMile Repeats - 8 Total - Sauc 1 - Tough run. weather was nice! 40s, light rain, light, but manageable wind, more fog. I should have rocked shorts, but habit had me out the door in my pants before I realized how nice it was. The workout was 2 Warmup, 3x mile repeats with 1/4 mile recoveries, finishing off with a cool-down for 8 total miles. The goal for the Miles was 8:10-8:40, which I hit - 8:23/8:23/8:29, but only with great effort. I was pumping my arms and sucking wind, but just couldn't get to the top end of that range. My legs were still pretty tired/sore from the weekend, and I just felt out of gas. I probably should have had something to eat before the run and/or taken my gel earlier. I took it after the first repeat - should have downed it on the warm-up. Overall, not a bad run and average pace was still under 10:00/mi. despite walking much of my recoveries and a few times on the cool-down, but it was a tough one to gut out. Legs, heart, and by the end, mind all tired. Going to enjoy that rest day tomorrow!

Great job! I've only done mile repeats once before, but I loved them! They're long enough to feel "meaningful" (400s and 800s seem too short) and also allows the pace to be a little slower than the shorter "sprints". Also, it looks like you averaged 8:25 on the repeats... *exactly* the mid-point of the goal range. Enjoy the rest day... you've earned it.

Totally agree, Marty! My half training plan had mile interval training every other week... my favorite runs of all... keeps things interesting, particularly when I was running on the track and things were otherwise dreadfully boring. Enjoy tomorrow's rest!

They're really not my favorite workouts. I prefer a basic Hill Run (not the repeats) for feeling badass or Yasso800s for really killing myself. But I do them, because my plan tells me to.
