great Made My Day 10.27 mi 01:14 07:09 pace

This one came out of nowhere - shocked myself with the pace for 10+! Nothing like a solid run to make you feel good, maybe I will shoot for a Fall half marathon after all... Mile splits: 8:11-7:54-7:25-7:07-6:56-7:01-7:06-7:04-6:42-6:24-6:12 (final quarter mile). Very happy with the strong finish! Wore a pre-release pair of the Skechers Go Run shoes - very Nike Free like, dare I say I think I might like them...this is their first "performance running" shoe.

Steve - my butt has never been this toned! I've actually been in touch with the technical and biomechanics folks who made this shoe - several of them came over from Nike and were involved with the Free project.

Great job Pete! I had a similar feeling about my run yesterday (though at a slower pace...). I'll definitely be reading that review- I've never like skechers (mostly because the young elem kids I teach stare at the blinking lights..or I'm boring :) )

Good post, Pete. I was very surprised that you'd try, and to some extent like their new product. Nevertheless, fully agreed with you doing so after they dropped their PR rep's "neutral or positive" requirement, and as they indeed may bring down the price point for shoes intended to encourage the mid-foot strike. I'm especially curious to see you continue your trial, ideally for longer runs, as it's just possible their design brings some efficiency advantages through engaging the plantar fascia.
