10 of the first 11.5 miles were uphill in cold, wet and heavy West Virginia snow varying in depth from ankle to knee deep. I had a full on five year old tantrum at mile 5 cursing the trail and the post hole stomping I've been doing for weeks, fell flat on my face into a snow drift at mile 6, then turned off my ipod and centered my emotions for the next 7 miles. Muggs pulled me out of Wolf Creek at mile 15 with stamina that just flat amazed me, then we hit town and he pulled me to the house...I dropped him off and turned out 6 more road miles around town just to see if could do it. Soo crazy to run for 18 miles through the gorge and never see another soul, always good to know that no one will save you should you go down, it is very motivating. ;) I am not sure how the West Virginia snow stomp training is going to work out when I hit flat ground and warm asphalt, but it will be interesting.
