I felt great most of the race. My feet - which is what I was really worried about - held up the whole way. I made a game day decision to run in my Brooks - which I retired about 3 pair of shoes ago, because the Brooks have a larger toe box than my Asics. I bought new insoles at the Expo, which I was somewhat nervous about b/c I've never tried buying insoles before. I used body glide all over the sole of the foot that gives me problems, and I think that helped. Mainly, though, I think my problem (hot spots) is a circulation issue, so since it was not super cold at the start, I was ok.

I did not start feeling bad until about Mile 24.5 By Mile 25, I was seriously fading and the last 1.5 miles were brutal. I was just fading, fading. I actually opened and ate a Gu at Mile 25.9 or something like that! I was just feeling like I had NO gas left in the tank, but I refused to walk with only 1/2 mile to go, so I just started eating the Gu!

I took a Gu before the race, one at Mile 9, another at Mile 16 or 17, then another at Mile 22. Clearly, I needed another Gu at Mile 24. *If* I ever do another full, I know that I need to be better about fueling (this same thing happened to me in Chicago).

BUT, I did manage to keep running, finishing in 4:29:00 - a 23 minute PR over Chicago! I'm very happy!
