Don't know about raring to go, will be more like starting up an old diesel engine in snow!

    alright Rollers 20 km 00:35 21.3mph pace

Struggling to string together enough weekly hours to make it meaningful but this is the time of the year that i usually end up divorcing my bike and marrying work so still pleased to get any miles ... read more

    good Rollers 35 km 01:00 21.7mph pace

Pre-breakfast spin to offset the big lunch i had yesterday. BB is shot on the old nago and the bearings on trainer are noisy - I blame it on Gabi.

Don't blame it on the Gabi, blame it one the boogie! Ate too much myself yesterday, and the weather man has tricked me. It's pants down here!

You must have the same weather man as up here gabi. Wife left earlier for work and left me instructions to hang the washing out as the forecast is supposed to be sunny and windy perfect drying conditions she says. Well same here RAIN>
Nader craking pace there but I bet it was noisy if the BB is shot

It's not too bad on the rollers but for some reason it didn't like the trainer - perhaps its just my huffing and puffing that drowns out the sound on the rollers. I was going to change it last week when installing the new groupset but the BB was jammed solid and i didn't have the right tool so left it in - hopefully i will get round to it sooner than later.

    80 x 25m 2000 m 01:10 56:19 pace

I am not a trained swimmer - proper DM swimmers talk about stroke rate, lap times, strokes/lap etc so I was trying to figure all that out today, not easy when you haven't got a watch and need glass... read more

That's a good stroke count. I average about that. Not sure if it's cause I am tall but over a 50m 28-31. And your times are good. The speed will come later, it takes practice to maintain good pacing in swimming.

I am slow so definitely no where near any Olympians, average breast strokers go faster than me - perhaps i am counting it wrong then, I counted the number of strokes for right hand I am guessing I have to multiply it by 2 now?

Yes that's the site - I downloaded the software so thanks for a great tip.

No you are counting right. I think being taller we have a longer reach.
Once you feel more confident i would definately suggest bilateral breathing every 3 strokes.

Bike in bits in the bath? Its like the stripped motorbike in the kitchen, My wife would have hung drawn and quartered me and then given me an ear bashing if I took the bike to the bath:-) OK whats the problem with the bike

I thought i could hear something on the uphills - given gabi's probs with BB's i was paranoid so i stripped it and cleaned and relubed the bearings & tightened it up then cleaned and lubed the chain and gave the bike a good clean - in the end I realized there was a dead dried up bee under the fork crown - poor sod must have gotten it at some fast downhill (that's the only time i pick up enough speed to be a danger to insects and road users) and think that's what the problem was coz all else was ok.

I had a problem with my front mech last week, couldn't change up...fiddled with the hi-lo screws, all looked good, still no joy. Eventually realised the cables were gunged with a little road muck - under the BB!!

PS: Got stung by a bee going downhill too last week - taking my bike apart would be less painful ;-)
