Trying to get faster! Would like to run a 5K race under 26 minutes, 25 minutes would be awesome for me! I have three 5K's this month and I want to place in the top 5 in my age group.

I haven't done that exercise, but I'll look into it :)
I usually warm up with just a half mile walk or run. I save most of my energy for the race, but I see many runners do pre runs before a race! I'll research it and try it, trial and error :)3 months ago • Like

haha...well and I don't know if there is an exercise, but it helps me get the feeling. It is from the Chirunning book...pretend you are a kid running around the pool who gets yelled at by the lifeguard. Then walk like they would...upper body straight and controlled and lower body/pelvis rotating. Extreme example would be model cat walking. Try walking like that and then turn it into a run. My core needs more work, but it helps my speed and power when I focus on my hips, I think of it as my hips "throwing"

I should give props to my husband for his run at the Shamrock too, he placed 5th in his age group, with a time of 24:37, average pace 7:56, now if I could just get as fast as him And BTW he doesn't even run and train like me, lol.

What a fun 5K. Sounds like you and your husband did an awesome job! We are going to have another color run down here on the Gulf Coast in May, so I am hoping to be able to join some friends in that run. Thanks for being such an inspiration!
