First sprint went really well. Then I noticed my 50 chainring had a bent tooth. It's been dropping chains and bending teeth for a while now, so I just rode to the bikeshop and got a new one. Too da... read more

blah Hill intervals (unfinished), ... 27.59 km 01:29 11.6mph pace
732m. 2x13.5min out of scheduled 4. No legs.

Hill intervals sound scary. I could go all out once but to repeat it would be something else I guess. No legs and out for the count I would be, I think. Are we required to do kind of negative splits for these intervals or is every repeat in the same zone etc?

You know, I don't know what negative split means! You start at 10 below LT and build closer to LT one beat at a time, so only the last minute or so is all out. It needs a lot of concentration and I'm not too good at reading the terrain and varying the effort just the right amount.

Ok got it. It is a kind of negative split strategy. So, does the same strategy of starting 10 beats below LT and building it up applies for all the repeats? I would think so.

Yes it applies to all and if you're doing it right, you'll end all the intervals at nearly the same point on the hill. If you go too hard early, the later intervals will end much before the earlier ones.

Heh heh, Montrose ride isn't a loop. It ends, predictably, near a coffee shop, in a different town from the start.
