This was brutal - but at least it's done. Since there is a lot of construction on Mt Vernon, I took a different Womack loop where I went left instead of right on Chamblee-Dunwoody road which eventually led to Brook Run Park. Still got the 6 in, but it was very hot and humid out and I had to stop several times to stretch out my calves. Slog eat slog out there. Yeah, I know, bad pun.

This has been a tough couple of weeks, where I really haven't been able to run as much or at a level I'd like. And I'm starting to realize how stress can take its toll on fitness level. I'm working on changing a lot of that but in the interim I'm just going to do what I can. And counting the days until it gets cooler out!

Weather has not been our friend. Stress only makes it worse. Looking forward to October!

Great job gutting out a 6 miler Mike. Us runners are truly resilient creatures. We may whine at times lol but we always get the job done.

I hope the new route let you miss some of those Womack hills. Nice 6! Good luck with the stress management - sounds easy, but it’s not.

You squeezed these fine 6 out and that's great. Gettin g rid of stress? Easy to say, difficult to do. I know that. So good luck.

Your body doesn't know the difference between physical stress from working out or from emotional or mental stress. I always have to cut back on running around the holidays because that is the most stressful time of year for me, both at work and personally. I learned it the hard way since I had an injury pattern every year in January/February. Keep moving, but taking a step back is not a bad thing.

I agree Kim - I did not realize it until recently and you put that very well.
