Today was sort of an interesting day - 4 mile run on my standard N. Peachtree loop to loosen up, then had brunch. After brunch the family wanted to take a walk and so who am I to disappoint? Ended up walking 5 neighborhood miles at a leisurely pace, but enough to be heated up. Now time for the pool? Sure!

I foolishly thought that my Garmin 735XT could withstand the water - it is swim certified and worked on other swims before, right? Well not so much today, the display completely flaked out on length 5. Took off the watch, finished about 20 lengths and now the watch is sitting in rice with me feeling hopeful, but resigned to the fact that it's probably toast (and out of warranty). Bah! I'll be chatting with them tomorrow.

On the plus side, I liked the total mileage and also finally felt comfortable breathing every other stroke. And had a nice recreational Sunday for a change. Gotta look to the positive!

Garmin watches are all waterproof, aren't they? Good to chat with them tomorrow, can't hurt. I know though that one is not supposed to push the buttons underwater, as it breaks the waterproof circuit, if you will. Water will get in the watch through those buttons.

Apparently not Helene. And I did not press the buttons underwater. Ugh!

What a shame, Mike. I'm hearing more and more of that. I have a 920XT, designed for a Triathlete, but I wouldn't dare swim in it. Heheheheheeeeee

It sounds like a great day, other than the Garmin! Hopefully they can help you out, even out of warranty.

Nice workout day and family time. Perhaps Garmin can help. Worth a call. If not, there’s a new “wearable” (what does that mean, anyway?) in your future.
