I'm originally from Chicago. In November I ran my second marathon: 3:51. I've done 14 half marathons. I'm thinking of trying a third marathon this fall.

    Back home in 84% humidity and no wind after a week in the Outer Banks. First time at 8:30 pace this year, and I was gasping, but I was pleased I could hold it.

    Trip from the cabin going north to the next pier and back. Gorgeous sunny day, and I found a nearly intact, blue 6-inch spiral shell on the return trip.

    Nice evening. Storms pushed away most of the heat and humidity, leaving a nice cool breeze.

    I was really lethargic for the first two miles, but then felt better and felt like I sprinted the last half mile. Still ended up with a slow pace but I felt great at the end.
