Up until about an hour/45 mins before this leg I was not feeling very good/into it. Before we went to our last van transition spot (to try and get some more shut-eye) we went to Dunkin Donuts and although I didn't quite feel like it, I knew I had to eat something so I got some chocolate milk and a sausage/egg sandwich on an english muffin. Actually considering everything I think I did a pretty good job overall fueling/hydrating for the whole race, forgot to mention in the last post that at our second van transition (when we were all done with our first legs) it was kinda close to "dinner-time" so they were selling hot-dogs (among other things) and I had one plus a whole plain bagel that we had in the van.

Anyway back to the 3rd leg, like I said by the time it came time to run I started to feel GREAT and definitely ready to kill those only (ya i said ONLY) 3.5 mile leg. So I started out feeling like I might be able to hold 8:00 for the whole thing, well I was close and I survived up until the last mile where I was just SO exhausted. I was able to pass one guy on this leg, and we found-out actually before he headed-out that he was part of a 5-man(!!!) ultra-team (normal teams had 12 runners, so you had the choice to do a 6-man ultra-relay, and somehow these guys did it with 5). So when I passed him I did feel good, but part of me was like "Man this guy has most-likely more than double the amount of miles on his legs." So of course I offered him some encouragement on my way back. +4 BABY!
