good Up Ocean Parkway 2 Loops Of Prospect Park Down Ocean 18.37 mi 01:51 9.9mph pace

I cannot run right now. I think I may be the only runner in the history of the world that gets injured standing still. Yep. I pulled a muscle in my left calf. Upper calf that is. Guess I was "standing" wrong or something? Hurts bad even to walk on it. Whatever.

So, since I need cycling miles I rode today. 2 loops of Prospect Park. It was a bit windy but a nice ride. I worked the hills as hard as I could. My next ride will be in Central Park probably later this week.

Good job taking it easy today. Think maybe your mileage was too high coming back from injury? I'm sure you'll be good as new after a few days off. Just take it easy, your body is telling you something.

@Sam ~ Maybe!! The weird thing is I was perfectly fine all day yesterday and then I was just standing in the kitchen cooking something by the oven and my upper left calf starting hurting and got worse. I iced it practically all night long.

Yeah. you've got to remember that if you run while something is not 100% other parts of your body can start to compensate. Not saying that's what happened in your case, though.

I have experience with calf strains and mine healed quite quickly - although I did stop running for almost a week (I only did 5km that week) which helped.

I had to increase the time i spent stretching post run and my focus on my calf muscles.

Do you think that adding the amount of cycling you have incorporated into your routine played a part?

Get better. Are you sure it's a pull or just a bad strain or just a random one-time major cramp?

Nice alternative training. Rides in the wind are challenging.

Do you foam roll at all? I use that especially on my calves when they get tight, which hurts like hell but keeps the muscles loose and feels better in the long run. Hope you are back out there running soon!

Isn't it great how the weather is cooperative now and at least you can go out on the bike instead of doing nothing? Great ride...

@Sarah ~ I do have a foam roller and will use it on my calf. I hope it helps a bit. Plus icing. Thanks for the reminder!

Poor calf. Michelle, you should really be treating it better, not just standing around like that. lol. Hope it heals up quickly, - and nice job getting a ride in.
