AAU basketball is over and maybe a day late. Yesterday I 5 good games and today it was a struggle and I knew it was time to put away my whistle. The games were long and of course the last one went in to overtime. The games and were sloppy and the last one was extremely rough and I had to spend a great deal of time talking to the kids about their play. Of course there can always be a sliver lining to just about any thing. When I was leaving the gym a gentleman came up to me and said he was very happy about the way I talked to the kids and thought a very good job. I then caught the end of my grand niece's game which she won. A player who was playing after her turned and asked me if I was doing their game. I had done a couple of his games over the winter, so I take that as a comment that he like me doing his games and unfortunately it may have spoke to how poorly the referees were doing in my niece's game. I told him no, but did comment how good a player he was and also his whole team. Thank you AAU for all the speed workouts trail running and biking here I come
