great Ride to Charleston - Epic Version 147.18 mi 13:16 11.1mph pace

Ok, so first let me say we would not have made it without our AWESOME support driver, Heather G. who dropped everything at the last minute to help. Also, tremendous weather as it was cloudy almost all morning, and we missed the rains.
Brian, Jason M G., Andrew C., Shiloh G., and Billy S. all are clinically insane to attempt them. We were averaging over 17.4 for a good deal of the early part after the insane hills. There are some horrible roads on the way too. We had a couple of scares with Billy and his back, and concern for heat stroke, exhaustion and what not. Billy's heart rate was lower than mine after 70 miles. I could only drop it under 130 by raising my legs over my head while lying down, or sitting down with my legs bent. I think I may have burned more calories than him today :)
Jason and Shiloh had too many blowouts between them so they tucked out at 136 and 143 respectively. Brian, Andrew and I bravely left them to finish the distance with Billy trailing. I don't know about Billy, but Brian, Andrew and I finished our epic ride with epic puking. Our total distance was over 152, but my brave little garmin tuckered out about the time I did. I'm gonna give it a 5 for effort. Check out my calorie count.

Sorry about all the puking. All I did was run a half yesterday and experienced some of that myself.

Matt, very awesome job! That was a blast yesterday - You really held your own and did spectacular! Thanks for going - hopefully we can get some more folks for next year! But for now, we ought to find a short little century before summer is out and one more for the fall...
