Of note, a guy was sprawled out on the back of 17 with CPR being performed. I started hyperventilating. A lady I was pacing with hit a 2:00 half, which was her fastest race. Go Liz! She has a 4 month old. I did not do well. I did not prepare well, and am very frustrated. I went to pieces on the last 6. I used 1 gu and 25 ml of olive oil for fuel. Met a lady that had lost 5 friends this month to cancer.
My oldest son and daughter ran through the chute with me. My son said that he could outrun "all those people" and maybe he should run the next marathon with me so he could win. After we crossed the finish line he asked me, "What took you so long?"
On a positive note,My youngest daughter got to touch the ocean for the first time today. She LOVED IT. I finished. I can walk, and was not dysfunctional after the race this time.(I could actually walk and talk and eat). The weather was perfect!
Ran into Onceagain Logan again. Nice to have some encouragement at the end.

Great job dude. Seriously, even though you may be frustrated with your time, just remember that you just did what only about 1% of the world's population will ever do. Keep your head up and focus on your next race. I know you'll do great! :)

Thanks for the support, guys. I'm glad I can walk today. I'll take that and no emergency potty breaks as a win this time.

Thanks, everyone. Good news is, the ankle is rock solid today. Maybe I can train more this year?

Dude, You kept it under 10 minute miles. That's solid. Your ankle is still together, you have a super athlete for a son, a wife that only minimaly rolls her eyes at you, and friends that think your awesome. I'd give up now. Too much preassure.

Yay you got that marathon done and considering your months leading up to this with less than desired training your time was great.
