  1. RUN
good Long, slow run test 4.13 mi

First half of run sluggish, with cold, numb feet. I guess they aren't used to 40 degree weather. But my feet and body warmed up by the 2nd half of run, and last mile felt really good, where ... read more

Was going for a broken sub 5 minute mile, but just didn't have it this morning. After 4 30 second intervals, I was at a 5:26 pace, and could barely get under a 5 minute pace for any of my int... read more

Eh, sometimes it just doesn't want to happen. Good run overall. And good job not trying to force it and hurting yourself...that would not have been good.

I wanted to go longer, but real was short on time this morning, so I tried to make the best of the time I had. A 7:00 pace is getting easier and easier for me to maintain. It still doesn't f... read more

  4. RUN
tired Recovery, low energy run 1.43 mi

Still feeling sore from Sunday's sprinting. Wanted to just do an easy, slow run to pump some blood through my legs, but not a great run by any means.

Now I get it. You started doing speed work and now you turn against the marathoners.

I still have hopes for a marathon when I'm older and have more time for training. I didn't think that pointing out physical differences was a knock on marathon runners.

  5. RUN
good Broken sub 5:15 mile 1.06 mi 00:05:32 05:13 pace

Another broken run. Tried to keep the intervals around the 30 second range, but some of them were more like 22 or 23 seconds. It wasn't pure sprinting, but a lot of my running was anaerobic.... read more

good Quick, broken run 0.69 mi 00:04:03 05:52 pace

I'm tweaking my goals somewhat in the short term. I'm going to focus a little more on sprinting and also work my way towards a broken sub 5:00 minute mile by the end of September.

I'm going for short and fast now. Maybe it's my lack of endurance, but I'm really enjoying sprinting a lot right now, and semi-sprinting as well.

Eventually, I'll try to piece these broken chunks back together and aim for longer stretches at a fast pace.

    good Broken 5K 3.1 mi 00:24 07:41 pace

I decided to run a broken 5K this morning. Not quite in an official way. My segments were of varying length. Some only a couple minutes, some probably 4 or 5 minutes. I started off pretty good ... read more

great Garmin test of broken sub 20 ... 0.52 mi 00:03:20 06:24 pace

This run was broken into chunks, trying to test doing stop/start on my Garmin, instead of doing distinct intervals. As usual of late, I did tried to do my running segments in faster than a 6:30 pa... read more

Thanks. I'm making a strong effort to get faster this year, and intervals are the way to go. I'm sure by the Fall, this will pay off in much faster 5K's.
