Was such a nice night - temps back up into the low 70s and a light cool breeze. Since I live in the country surrounded by open fields it is truly pitch dark when the sun goes down. I got a bit pa... read more

good 12 for LSD 12 mi 02:03 10:13 pace
Ran with three fast guys; probably not a good idea but was nice company at least.

Nice run! At least you know you can hang with people going faster than you intended. It will be good to meet you in a couple of weeks!

Stationary bike 18 mi 00:45 24.0mph pace
"cross trained" on the bike to give hip & tendon more time to heal. Hoping Saturday's LSD will go better.

I hope you feel better! Good job doing cross training - I am possibly sitting out tonight's run.

good Evansville half-marathon with... 17 mi 02:50 10:00 pace
Managed a 2:09:35 in the race and then went straight out to get my 4 extra done before I lost motivation. It turned out to be a good day, thanks to cooler temps and an awesome race.

RUN
good 3 mile warmup 3 mi 00:39 13:00 pace
Took it very easy as the temp was 40 and I was stuck at the top of a hill!

RUN
good 5 mile with 3 @ MP 5 mi 00:51 10:07 pace
Was supposed to warm up one mile and then do 3 at MP of 10:18. Ended up having 3 that were under 10 minutes each, so I'm guessing that means my hip is okay!

good LSD on a beautiful day 14 mi 02:31 10:45 pace

I love doing long runs as part of a group, or in a race because it just makes the time fly by! Glad you had a good day for it too - that's a good-looking run there!

Love the training groups! It definitely helps the time (and miles) fly by! A good long run by yourself can be refreshing sometimes....a good time to take inventory, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy some peace and quiet. So, no need to worry!

good 7 miles at MP 7 mi 01:12 10:16 pace
Good although things are starting to complain (knees mostly!). Pushed hard tonight to see if I could stick to MP of 10:18, overall I'm pretty pleased.

good 20 mile+ 2! 22 mi 04:05 11:08 pace

Any thoughts on breaking up LSDs in training? I'm doing a 20 miler combined with a sponsored half marathon race in a couple of weeks - my plan is do 3 miles before, then run the half, and the... read more

For what it's worth, my MCM training group coaches have said this: this weekend, we're scheduled to do 16. There's also a 10 Mile race being held in our town. They're telling us that if we do the race, to do 3 miles before as your warmup, and 3 miles after as your cool down. If it's good for our coaches, your plan should be good for you with your 20. Just get the miles in.

I agree with everyone else....it is about time on your feet. As long as you are out there running the miles without hours of downtime, you should be fine. I would also make sure that you do at least one 20 miler straight through. I think it is just good from a confidence perspective.
