Ran up in OKC, along the OKCMM course, some of it that, 2nd run this year with the landrunners, temp was 18 degrees, wind chill i'm sure was bout 10 degrees, not all that bad, :).
After yesterday's PR half marathon on the trails, i was expecting to run this bout 9:30ish pace. I wore my hydration belt(water got icy/slushy again), 2 bottles, took 3 endurolyte caps b4 i started. Anyways, once we all got started, i just took off, didn't see any of my runnin group friends, i thought i was going at a slow enough pace where they could catch up to me. But after checking my pace, i guess not. I think with all my runs lately, where alot of my runs have been at a sub 8 minute pace, now i feel a easy pace is 8:30 to 8:45. Even tho my legs were somewhat tired from yesterday's fast pace HM.
Anyways, I did not stop at all on this run, they had water stops at about every 3 miles or so, i figured i'd get cold if i did stop, besides, one reason i carry my own water is so i don't have to stop, :). One of my friends did come up on me bout mile 2 or so, Susan, she's a FAST runner!! I paced off of her and her lil group til the first water stop, they stopped, i kepted going, but at a easier pace, til they caught up to me again, and i picked the pace up with them. At the 6 mile water stop, i lost them, as i said i kepted going, but they never caught up to me again, but i paced off of another couple til the red coyote water stop. It was then, my right calve tighten up on me, felt like it was bout to cramp up, never did, but i did slow my pace the next 3 miles. But, i ended up running ok the last 2 miles, i was happy with my overall time, 2:01:41. Once i stopped, got some gatorade and headed to my ride, b4 i got too cold.
2 solid days of good running, now, a EASY 3 mile recovery run 2morrow, 50k in 13 days, it's taper time. Icing foot now, sipping coffee, til next time.
Mile Splits:
1st 7 miles: 8:47, 8:35,8:34, 8:32, 7:59, 8:16,8:23
2nd 7miles: 8:23, 8:36, 9:05, 9:17, 9:17, 8:48,8:49

Great job Marlon, especially in those conditions.

My hat is off you and all the Landrunners which braved the conditions. Excellent pace, especially after your PR yesterday. You are a running machine.Wind chill at 10 but not bad? What doe it take to be bad, a blizzard or baseball size hail?
