great Kenyan Way 12.25 12.29 mi 01:36 07:47 pace

Ran a good negative split with Kenyan Way this morning, though I missed my normal running friends who were busy or injured. The weather was perfect at 46 °F, 12mph NNW wind, 53% humidity.

I'm continuing to compare the iSmoothRun App on my iPhone 5 versus my Garmin Forerunner 310XT. As one positive change with the App detailed weather information from iSmoothRun is automatically supplied to DailyMile (along with all my running data). While there was a 1.3% measured distance discrepancy between iSmoothRun and the Garmin 310XT I find it minimal, and within my Forerunner's margin of error versus a measured course. I also like, when running solo like today, to listen to my iPhone's music via earphones, and appreciate iSmoothRun's ability to prompt me each mile with my pace, distance and cadence information. This is super nice, since I obviously don't run with reading glasses and often have difficulty reading the Garmin in dimly lit conditions.

Finally, I like iSmoothRun's ability to measure and - also via my earphones - to report my cadence through use of the iPhone's built-in accelerometer (unlike the Garmin Forerunner, which requires a separate, expensive, and battery dependent shoe pod). This is useful information to me as when I run at or above today's average 84 strides/minute this results in my landing better on my mid-foot.

Have a good day, all!
