good Recovery 10k w/Matt (backside of 20k course) 6.2 mi 00:50 08:02 pace

Woke up this morning pretty sore. Felt a little better as the day went on - decided to hop on the bike (hooked up to trainer) and do an easy 30 minute spin before my run to help loosen up. First few steps of run were "interesting" - but as soon as I met up with Matt and started running things felt much better.

After seeing the new proposed route for the New Haven 20k yesterday I felt a little inspired to run part of the course. Kept an eye on the HR for this run and made sure I could keep it low without driving Matt too crazy on the pace.

Why are they considering changing it? Hasn't it been the way it is since forever?

@Bob - yah the guy I talked to said same course for the past 34 or so years. Based on what I saw (assuming it sticks) - I kind of like the new course. Better racing experience. @Greg - so far been feeling good (even when sore) I figure Ill have to do a recovery week soon where I drop it back a bunch. But until then...

Is the proposed route available somewhere? I'd love to have a look.

Nothing out there yet for new route - but from what I saw they are gonna cut the long wharf section out (which is fine by me - that part of the run always was a drag for me)

As long as somebody is still handing out orange slices and gels just past 10k :-p
Actually in 2011 I really liked two the two bands on Long Wharf. One was doing Jimmy Hendrix riffs, and the second was doing Guns N Roses. So maybe they'll cut back inland for a bit, and then zig toward the train station / Fair Haven?

I have asked one of the big wigs if they can get the Hendrix band that plays at Branford and Fairfield. Once I get the name of the band he said they would call em and see if they will play. Love that band.

Ill see if i can sneak another peak at the proposed map again next week.
