The Long Road to Recovery

Ran again after a week's rest...scheduled to get my cortisone shots tomorrow...let's see if it helps. The lack of running practice shows in my last 2 attempts to run...hope I am able to complete the Borivali National Park HM on I-Day, next Wednesday...fingers crossed, 'cos the road to recovery is like the road to perdition - long winding and like wading through hell!

Manish- really? Does it still hurt if you slow down? Is the shot really essential? (sorry to bring this up 1 day before its due). Take care..

Yup, Preeti. Have been using orthotics for the last 2 days in my office wear...does give me relief during the day besides giving me the courage to run. Have been under physiotherapy/acupuncture for 2 months now and the only one benefiting with the sessions was my physio, but it was she who recommended it :) Said one shot should do it, doesn't recommend more!

Good run Manish. Take care and ensure that it doesnt get chronic. Have you tried orthotics?

Yup Viv, using orthotics for office wear so far, have not tried running with them yet.

Cool, Does it help? I believe you can use them for running also. Someone had given me this site
http://www.orthofit.in/web/
They are in Kemps Corner. Maybe you could speak with them and see if they have anything to help you with running.
That said I have not used orthotics but heard that it helps with PF. Also you could speak with Raj, he could show you some stretches

main thing is you're running again. stay the course buddy. and don't think too much about the bnp half. it's a bitch of a course, so just go back to the basics of slow and steady. don't even think about timing.

Good luck, don't worry if you are forced not to compete or cannot compete due to the injury. Think long term here not short.

Why rush into a HM at SGRU? Take rest and recover slowly no?

Yes why rush into a HM now if you are in so much pain even when not running? Knowing you, you will be competitive (with yourself at least) in the race, and that might not be recommended now. I guess this is turning out as a forum for lot of unsolicited gyaan. :-) Sorry!

Thanks all, for the collective concern and overwhelming support..am Happy, Happy :-) @ All - I know fully well from last year that the BNP's torturous course is the worst place to be attempting a comeback, so am going to leave my watch behind and run for the sheer atmosphere there and joy of being able to run. Will stop the moment I fear something is amiss. @Preeti - have sent my competitive self to Siberia for the time being and all the unsolicited gyan is most appreciated :-)
