Thank you all for your many encouraging e-mails and motivations asking where I've been as well as sending well wishes into my neck of the woods. It means a lot to have so many DMers encouragement especially from the many I truly admire.
All's well. I've been sulking a bit and bored with my routine so I haven't posted plus I've gained almost 7 pounds from not running, so lots of mopping going on here!
A friend of mine got me out of my gloom and invited me on an open water swim this morning with her tri-group. I was a bit reluctant as I haven't been swimming in over a year but she promised to buy me an ice cream if I went and my hubby kicked me out the door.
Once we got to the lake, my excitement started to grow when the instructor told us to swim out to the buoys and back. I fully enjoyed every minute of it, other than getting kicked and head butted a few times. It was exhausting and by the end I felt so out of shape. Once I got out of the water, the instructor came over to my friend and I and said, "You know, I meant for 'you' to swim to the the other buoy, the last one is for those who have been swimming with me while but did great and just finished a mile". :)
I feel a bit more encouraged and plan to head back to the pool again also, it's so funny how exercise improves ones healthier choices. I got a protein smoothie instead of ice cream. :) Thanks again for your kind encouraging words! Ya'll are the best!

Great swim today! Glad you are doing better!!!!! Go Maggie!

Swimming is an excellent way to stay fit during running down times. At least that's what they say. I can't swim the length of the pool without taking a break :) You did well today. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Take it from me Maggie - if you are able to stay active with core work and just a bit of cardio, it will pay off when you are able to run again. Glad you got out there today.

Strong swim Maggie ... rehabbing is a mental challenge for sure but if you combine this strong swimming with your always focused core work you will be strong when you get the green light to start training for MCM.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Maggie! The lake swim sounds like a lot more fun that swimming laps in a pool :)

Aw, good for you getting back in the swim of things! I gained about 10 lbs when I broke my toe and am having a hard time getting it off - don't let this happen to you! :-)
