Best hot weather run I've had in a long time. I am not sure exactly why, but I am crediting the big batch of fresh pasta I made last night, which I ate too much of (and no, it's not on my anti-inflammatory diet. As I said, I'm not 100%:)). I am pretty sure that pasta is magic.
I told myself before starting that 10:00/mile was the absolute fastest I would go, thinking I'd probably be much slower any way. I felt like I could go a lot faster. It was 70 when I started, 78 when I finished, with 78% humidity. The trail is about 40% shaded at that time in the morning and there were some clouds, PLUS it was breezy. All good things when it's warm out. I never got tired, never got sore, kept a pretty even pace. While it wasn't "easy" it was maybe the easiest run I've had in months.
I saw several cyclists but no other runners or walkers. It's the last day of Polka Days, so there were a lot of people out for the parade and also for Polka Mass/Service (Catholic and Lutheran). I almost went to Polka Mass... I didn't want to run afterwards since it would be too late and hot, but I thought maybe attending afterwards with a red face and sweaty body not be appropriate either. Then I realized it probably would be fine since it's a POLKA mass after all. I guess I just didn't want to go to church today! :-D
I did see a few people DRIVING on the trail today. I know they were probably not from the area, but everything is clearly marked and it is clearly a trail. Nobody went far, but still?
I just picked some mint from outside and I have some limes. Guess what I am making?

Wow Kim sounds like a great run. Ha better than mine went. You are truly amazing. This is a great victory, after all you had been through. Looking back over the last year proves that you are one tough cookie.
