The Long John Jamboree is held on the frozen Great Slave Lake. I couldn't capture it in the picture, but you can see right down to the lake bottom.

  6. RUN
great Up and down Franklin 5.01 mi 00:50 09:58 pace

It got down to -15C last night and I tried to wait until it warmed up a bit, but Scott only had less than 5 miles left in his 23 miler, so I got my butt out the door when it was still -12C. And I w... read more

great My little speed test 0.16 mi 00:01:08 07:04 pace

My legs really need to get used to all the ups and downs of running outside after a long winter on the TM and track. Also overdressed a bit for the above freezing temps and finished up near the leg... read more

  9. RUN
    great Outside! 3.54 mi 00:37 10:29 pace

Awesome to get outside for a change! Not much wind and -10C/14F, dressed perfectly, except for the gloves! It took more than a mile for my finger tips to warm up, and my iPhone died at mile 3... Go... read more

HOLY COW. Remind me not to complain about the temps being in the high 20s in Chicago now. I'm glad you were able to get outside for a bit Loreen. Looks like a good run. Is there still a bunch of snow? Probably.

  10. RUN
    good Fieldhouse 6.06 mi 01:02 10:18 pace

Had my sights set to chase down the 2 girls in front of me on the last mile, and just when I figured I had them with one lap (245 m) to go, they stopped for a walk break! Just as well, this was sup... read more

  13. RUN
    blah Fieldhouse 5.01 mi 00:52 10:18 pace

Legs were willing but my head just wasn't in the game today.

  14. RUN
    good Fieldhouse 5.01 mi 00:51 10:09 pace

Pretty crowded there tonight. Mostly walkers...and one lap wonders. Good run ;-)

  15. RUN
    good Gym TM @ 2% 3.5 mi 00:37 10:30 pace

Cruised the first mile at 5.5 then started increasing until I finished at 6.2. Not a bad run at all.

    great 7 minute routine 00:07:00

Still have DOMS from the first time I did this, but really...what runner can't push through for 7 minutes of discomfort?

    • Ben K.

7 minutes? Well, I'd like to think I could handle anything for 7 minutes - but then I think about how long 7 minutes could be.... I hope you aren't so sore tomorrow, but at least it sounds like this was a good sore. So nice job Loreen.

alright Gym bike level 5 4 km 00:12:50 11.6mph pace

The run wasn't working out, so jumped on the bike for a bit. Finally figured out the distance/speed has to be in metric, and kept my cadence between 80-95.

  18. RUN
    blah Gym TM @ 2% 2.25 mi 00:25 11:00 pace

Not good, not good at all! It was, however, an eye opening experience. Without a race to build towards, I tend to let my runs fall by the wayside and fall into weekend warrior mode. And I never rea... read more

Ha! Well if nothing else, we know that was a hell of an effective 7 minutes yesterday! Stuff like that is so great. Kind of hard not to find 7 minutes in your day to do this either so I hope you do stick with it. And you got 2 miles in on top of it all. Any ideas for a race down the road?

Tomorrow the lottery opens for the Nike Womens Run 15km in Toronto on June 14th! Want to come? If I don't get in I will be on the west coast cheering my husband on at the Victoria IM 70.3!
