Well, after last Thursday's run, I had a deep hamstring/piriformis pain. So bad on Thu evening, that I felt like I was limping around.
Took Friday off, and felt a bit better. Have been rolling the affected glute muscle on a baseball, which has helped immensely.
Took Saturday off, as well. Rest, rest, and more rest.
Finally felt better enough to venture on a short, easy-paced run. While I could feel what can best be described as close to a bruised sensation, it did not worsen with the run. I'm hopeful for Sunday race day!
Plan = 8-10mi @ 8:36/mi (marathon pace)
Actual = 6.41 @ 9:12/mi


Lot's of stretching and icing Lora. Last year I had a pirifmormis injury about 6 weeks before nyc marathon. Mine was nasty though, I hurt it bad. I could hardly walk for a few days. I had to take 2 weeks off.... take it easy now as your big day is close. Once you warm up you won't feel too much of a discomfort.

Bugger! Sorry to hear you have some injury concerns Lora!! Hopefully a few light days and it will subside! You'll be fine for next weekend I'm sure! x

Ah, a baseball! That's what I need. I'm having a hamstring/glute issue, too. You're the ready for Sunday, nonetheless.

Hi Lora , I agree with all of the above. Coach "B"'s favorate advise was and is "listen to your body" You are in great shape, a mile or two won't matter one way or the other :)
BTW joing the club I was mowing my lawn Friday and hit a stump , Mower stopped short and I "ran" into the handle , bruising my quad ! Can't catch a break ! lol :(
