Wish I could help Liz -but I would be so frustrated by that too. How is your nutrition? If it was just weight I would say it's muscle weight but your clothes being tight I don't really understand - I would think you'd be toning up. Sorry hon!

I put on weight weight when I started my 90 day gig and all I was doing was working out and eating healthy. Don't sweat it, just keep sweating.

Muscles are heavier than fat! Maybe you dried your clothes for too long?

I disagree with that 90% of the time. I think trainers could/should just write programs after showing people how to do the exercises they're going to want them to do, prescribe the advice, weekly follow up reports (or have your trainer following you on dailymile, etc. What I see them doing with people over 40 makes me really think they're doing a disservice to the people who need to most working out.
Liz go easy. Remember Icarus. I know what it's like to want to max to want to bring on the intensity.

Alec - I've never had a trainer so perhaps I just don't know but I'd love the one on one advice and assistance. I don't think Lizgator is over 40 though so that's a moot point.

Hey y'all -- yeah my shins have gotten a bit better, but that's because when i'm running im really having to focus on running through my heels and sitting back, which feels kinda weird. A friend said that I must typically run in the balls of my feet, which is creating the shin splints. Elizabeth -- i'll try that exercise!! Thanks!

I'm 230. A lot of times a part of my knee or ankle or shin will hurt but I can shift the msucle groups i use for at least 5-10 minutes so I give every muscle time to defuse (which is probably important given I'm 2x the weight of 75%-90% of distance runners). All about Vitamin Ibuprofen and skim milk for your training. I have't heard of NSAIDs hurting anyone, but I'm using advil enough to start asking questions. You're an inspiration.
