good Country Music Half Marathon 13.1 mi 02:47 12:44 pace

I started my day at 3:20AM and left the house 1 hr later to meet my friend Dana at an exit to ride in together. It was awesome to have a friend to chat with and share the pre race jitters. We had lots of time to walk around and get to our corral. I crossed the start line at 7:34. I love the new race course. It is more scenic and we got to run almost all the way down Broadway in the beginning. I was running a pretty consistent pace most of the race, but I still took lots of short walk breaks at the hilly spots. I was hoping to finish under 2;45, but I couldn't quite make it. I am still super happy with my time though, which was my best HM finish time so far. I felt good the whole race, too. No dehydration symptoms and no major pains. It was a very good day!

That is so awesome Leslie! All that Rails to Trails training paid off!! :-) Did your family make it in time to see you at the finish line? Dan tried to get the car from the hotel and then got stuck in traffic and blocked off roads and took over an hour of driving around before he finally gave up and parked a couple miles away.

thanks everyone! @Erika: No my family didn't get to see me cross the finish. They said they were right there, but somehow still missed me. I told them it was because I was so fast LOL My friend from work was at the finish line with medals and he got to "crown" me this year. That was cool! I am pretty sure I burned more than 25 calories, too. I don't know why it says that. Maybe it knew I was going to make up for it with all the delicious calories I ate later at Golden Corral!
