I caught a stomach bug two days ago and got on the scale this am and I lost 7lbs - no bueno - feeling weak sauce - running to the bathroom all night - I started thinking about what to do about this race - I decided go use it as "training" and DONT push and stop if you cant go on - took the pressure off .
This is a po dunk small mountain town triathlon fo sho :) 4 waves for the swim - male sprint , female sprint , male international , female international - they said 1000 triathletes - in this "pond" with a CRAZY rocky entrance - I think getting in and out took me longer then the actual swim - It was INSANE - I was thinking staying in bed would have been a fine choice - 42 degrees outside - not sure the water temp . The start reminded me of a trampling in a mosh pit at a Green Day concert - Jezuz . Got it done - never felt my groove but avoided the mayhem :)

Wow, definitely sounds like an experience for sure...way to be smart!

42 degrees out, the water must have been freezing, not to mention crazy busy!

They call 800 meters international??? What was the sprint? You can only race what they give you, solid swim, especially with a case o the crud.

You're as tough as they come, Leah! Sounds like it would have been a good morning to stay in bed and nurse that bug rather than put the effort into what sounds like a second-rate event. But since you went for it (big surprise), glad you went into it as a training tri! ;)
