Hello 5K!! That was not an easy 5K and I was actually only planning to run 4K today. Then when I saw the distance hit 4K I said to myself... "Self, why don't you just do the 5K? You know it would make you happy." (yes, I talk to myself... it's a runner thing). And... it didn't suck as much as I thought it would.

When I hit 5K I started to cry. I called out to Tobias, who was watching little Kaia as a Mother's Day gift to me. He came running out to see what was wrong and between sobs I explained that these were tears of joy. Three months ago I thought I would never be able to run again.

Thanks everyone. This was also kind of a major breakthrough with the fear side of running after having a heart issue—every time I would think about running I'd be overcome with apprehension. I expected it to happen post-procedure as the doctor warned me but I didn't think it would be as bad as it has been. This run became the turning point that reminded me, even though I have a lot of work to do physically, much of the battle is mental... and I am no longer afraid.
