Not bad, for a first race. It pissed rain the entire time - to the point where I could not tell if my legs were just extremely fatigued or if my shoes gained 10 lbs of water. I felt great for the f... read more

blah Around McKenzie Towne 6 km 00:37 09:55 pace
No energy today. I could not wait for this run to be over, but could not seem to run any faster. It was supposed to be a tempo run, but that did not work out so well. Hoping for a better run tomorrow!

RUN
blah Calgary Bow 14 km 01:25 09:46 pace
I was aiming for 16K, but I got too hot and dehydrated. It was a hot, dry day in Calgary. I definitely need to pick up a fuel belt before attempting my next 16K run. It was nice to run along the ri... read more

Short run at Mount Doug. I was very tired. Perhaps due to general exhaustion or poor fuelling. Otherwise, a nice run on a nice Victoria day.

great work, laura! i strong armed jodi into running edmonton (August) as her first 1/2 when she wanted to wait until kelowna in october. the first race can be considered one to make some mistakes on and then nail the next one. however, it sounds like you left everything on the course and that's a good sign. you destroyed a major goal. there's little fear in you and for that alone, you should be proud. congrats on the result.

Thanks, Dan! I am glad I went for it. Prior to this race, the question was "can I do it?" Now that I have that out of the way, I can concentrate on "can I do it faster?" I'm looking forward to October. Thanks for the encouragement!
