Park City Marathon 26.12 mi 04:50 11:05 pace

This was a tough marathon, with high elevation and hills, up and down. I think I ran over 6.22 miles, but I think my Garmin watch had troubled dealing with the elevation changes. http://connect.g... read more

Sounds like a decent time considering the elevation and increasing temps.

  10. RUN
    Near Home 3.1 mi 00:26 08:16 pace

I ran in my light shoes, Altra Instincts, and tried to run 8:30/mi or better. Temperature was 93 degrees, and heat slowed me a little, but I was still able to run a good pace.

Great news on the new treads. I have not been able to find a light weight pair that provide enough support. For now I will stick to my Saucony Guides. Great to see you still moving. Take care and God Sped my Friend.

The Altra Instincts don't provide much support. I use them for my Wednesday runs, currently 3.1 - 3.5 miles, and for Saturday treadmill runs. I like that they're zero drop, and help me to work on running form and foot strength. For my other runs I wear Brooks Adrenalines. There may be better shoes, but I've run nine marathons using this model, and I'm hesitant to change. However, I'm hoping to find a more cushioned zero drop shoe I can use for longer runs. Also, I'm thinking of trying Hokas.

I am looking at Altra's. I have been told the Hokas can cause some issues because they are too cushioned? Where did you get your Altra's in UT? Did you get them in Layton or somewhere in SLC?

I bought mine at Striders, in Layton. Most running shoe stores in the area sell them, probably because they're a local company.
