Hills 7-10 (of ascending difficulty) and then a all out high cadence low resistance sprint at the end. I'm much better at hills...

RUN
great 5 Miles EZ 5.4 mi 00:55 10:11 pace
It was one of those great runs where I didn't want to stop, I could have run 5 more. Overcast, perfect temp of ~60, humid... loved it. Apparently what I was doing was working, or at least that's ... read more

great Recovery Workout 1.75 mi 00:25 14:17 pace
The bad part about Sunday races is I'm not ready for Monday sprints. Mellow elliptical + crunchtime core workout.

It was a great morning for a run with my Joel! :) I'm super happy to have run his first half with him, and we have another in 3 weeks!

great Half IM Swim 2000 yd 00:43 37:50 pace
Excited to get a longer swim in. This is about 100 yd less than the swim section of the half ironman (if I would have calculated properly, I would have done 5 more laps...). Breaststroke warmup, ... read more

good Progressive 5k 3.1 mi 00:30 09:35 pace
First 2 miles I went comfortable, 1.1 I tried to haul arse a little more. New kicks make me feel (sorta) speedy though I don't think they're ready for primetime yet. This was also a test of my ge... read more

#dailymission What's the best prize you ever won at a race (earned or by chance)? I won my age group at a 5k, and got a bottle of wine. Haven't drank it yet... maybe with the next time I podium? :)

RUN
good Breaking In The New Kicks 3.6 mi 00:37 10:16 pace
Ran slow on brand new shoes, didn't want to hurt my feet, but threw in some speedy 0.1 mile strides in there.

RUN
good 1 mi 00:14:00 14:00 pace
8 Miles on plan today but Joel's ankle started to hurt so we called it and walked home. Nothing you can do a week out from a race pushing through pain but injure yourself so it's the right call IMO.

RUN
good Gorilla run 3 mi 00:31 10:20 pace
Ran with Joel, his best 5k pace ever... even more amazing because it was in a full Gorilla suit! Fun race!

#dailymission What was your favorite race of 2011? I did a lot of them, but I'd have to say the Kerrville Sprint Tri in October. I actually trained really hard for 3 months and didn't race to foc... read more

RUN
good Sprints 3 mi 00:30 10:00 pace
My program said 10x400, Joel's said 4x800. I decided 400s sounded better and just did as many as I had time for before crunchtime class.

great Magic 8 Ball Run 12.1 mi 02:22 11:44 pace
Magic 8 ball says: 13.1. When it comes down to it, I may or may not be physically ready to run a marathon, but I *know* I am not mentally ready. I made peace with it around mile 8. While I'm a l... read more

I think you have made a good decision, but remember...you can always do a spring or fall marathon if training goes well. Plenty of time for marathons.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the better I feel. I don't just want to limp across the finish line, I really want to rock it. I'm not there yet. I will be there eventually though. When's your half? Looks like you've been really rocking your training...

Smart decision, I agree with you making a decision that you feel comfortable with. Like Staci said, there is plenty of time for a marathon. Nice long run today!
