Oh My Gosh my Polar RCX5 is da BOMB!!!! I had not used it in the pool since today and wow do I LOVE the data! Max HR was 165 in the water! Wow! Might have had something to do with the energy drink I had beforehand though.
My descends went well. 22 on the first, but I got it down to 16 and held 16/17 by the 3rd 50. Noticed I wanted to breathe by 4, rather than 3 when my stroke count went toward the low end. It felt more natural that way.
I hit the sprints and noticed doc was bouncing off the wall at the same time I was. I knew he had to be in his 500 TT, so I nailed it. I cannot past him, but I my goal was just to keep him beside me and not fall behind. My first 25 sprint was choppy and I came out a little slower than I wanted, he pulled ahead, but I stayed by his legs.
2nd sprint and I smoothed out my stroke. Elongated and pulled, but fast, it worked. I inched up to his side by his stomach. Ha! From then it was on! Talking afterward to doc, he said he knew what I was doing, so by the 3rd sprint, he decided to kick it up a notch and I felt it. 3rd sprint, I came off that 25 gasping for air, but we came out at 25 seconds. The last two near the same. Not to bad. It was fun racing him, even for only 25. And I was glad I could stay up. I do not have delusions that I can go long meters with him, but it felt good to have someone push me in the pool.
Happy for the 200 pull because I can pull all day.
I did not make the first 150 in 3:15 because doc was jacking with me in the next lane so I kicked it out the second and came out slow on that one too. Bummed, but tired... I guess.
200 cool down and off for an avacado sammich!
