While I am ELATED with this 5 minute PR, especially considering I had to take the full week off from running due to pain under my left kneecap, I was hoping to go sub-3:30 and a bathroom break at m... read more

  8. RUN
    great Shamrock Run 15K 9.3 mi 01:09 07:21 pace

This is a tough 15k -- a big climb from about mile 3-6 but then a long downhill from 6 to the finish. I wore a Garmin to capture my splits but didn't look at it for the entire race so that I ... read more

Oh boy! Sounds like you really need to be careful right now. :( I can't remember if I've already mentioned that I'm running the 15k this weekend also. Hopefully I'll see you there.

Thanks, ladies! It is just so frustrating to feel like I'm wasting a whole week of training so close to Boston. But I am trying to balance listening to my body with getting at least a few miles in! Carissa, I'll look for you at the start but I'm sure it will be packed! No idea how to pace myself on the course. I know it is a long, steep climb up Terwilliger. Have you run this before?

I'm with you on the pacing Kristen. I've never ran Shamrock before and I've never ran a 15k but I have ran Terwilliger for Heartbreaker last year. I think it's more about going at it with a race effort rather than figuring out a pace expectation ahead of time. At least I think that's my strategy. I felt so lousy running my last race that I'm nervous this weekend will feel the same.
