I need to come up with a strategy that will allow me to keep doing the exercises. I started 100 of times, but every time after a week or two I stop for one reason or the other. Part of the reason is that it's just so boring and repetitive. I just don't know how to solve this problem yet.

First I don't think you're stupid. I think it's great to ask questions. For me it's being involved in an "event". I am a people person and love random conversations with folks, the jitters everyone has and I've earned two medals which I like. Also bumping into fellow runners I know is cool. The before and after pics. I like it all.

That's actually a really great question. I keep starting to answer and then I get halfway into the sentence and I have to stop. I don't really know. Sometimes I think it is to test ourselves in a setting where many others are doing the same? Sometimes I think it is to give ourselves motivation to keep training day after day? And then other times I think it is just to have some proof of having done something grand.

I'm doing the half Sunday -- have some friends doing the 10K on Saturday. Haven't really set a time goal, but would like it to be under my last one (1:59:23). If not, that's okay. I'm just glad to be going to beautiful Cincinnati, seeing our son and his wife, and running the 15th FP. So neat that you're running your daughter's 1st 5k with her.

I am doing half. I think you will do well on Sunday. There is something magical about the Pig, even though the course is not easy the crowds and entertainment carry you though. I am not sure about my pace goal this year. Last year I did in 1:55 and a change. The plan is to enjoy the race and see how my body feels. I would like to get under 1:50 this year, but probably not that day :)
