Geez Louise. Let's just say it was kinda discouraging to be driving to the Trace at 5:50 am and have my car telling me it's already 80 degrees outside (to go with the 10,000% humidity). Also, I was functioning on about 3.5 hours of sleep. :-/
But overall, I think the run went ok. Since I was running a bit farther today I froze my larger water bottle and I am so glad I did! I needed every drop! As my runs are getting longer I'm wondering if I should start running with some music. An hour with just my thoughts isn't really cutting it anymore since lately they're mostly thoughts like "I am going to die. This heat is ridiculous. Why am I doing this? How much farther?" But I still need to listen for my watch beeps so maybe just having one ear bud in will allow me to do that.
Today was one 2-mile interval followed by two 1-mile intervals (with a 1-minute walk break between intervals). The first two miles were at a 13:47 pace, then the following miles were at 13:19 and 13:06. So, I guess that's good? Negative splits! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/203844940
I'm running again tomorrow. This is my first 4-run week and this will be the new schedule going forward. My cross-training has been cut down to just two days and I still get my WELL-DESERVED day off every Friday.

Nicely done! Yay, negative splits! The one ear bud does work with the Garmin beeps, especially if the ear bud is opposite side from the Garmin.

Thanks, Andrea! I think I'll try that! I definitely need a distraction! :-)

The weather this morning is about as bad as it will get for a morning run, so that's something :) My Garmin has an option where it buzzes for intervals, etc., so if yours has that it may be enough to warrant both ear buds!

Nice job! It is just nasty this time of year but it will pay off when the cool wether comes in the fall!

Awesome running, Allison! And, I've always just worn one earbud. I like to hear who's coming up behind me. ;) I run without my Ipod more often than not now, but when I was just starting back, I used it for almost every run. I still usually take it on long runs, just in case I need something to take my mind off it. I listen to a lot of audiobooks that way - went through several last year training for the marathon. I REALLY needed something that long, hot summer!
