  2. RUN
good Last long run before Ottawa 10.01 mi 01:18 07:45 pace

Kind of felt blah through the first few kilometres. After the halfway mark, got a call from work -- breaking news -- so booted it home. Some of those splits at the end were more like tempo for a 10... read more

alright Clear the head 2.5 mi 00:20 07:56 pace

Very late night cause that's that way the news business is sometimes -- and early to work, so a lunchtime run to clear the head.. Taper, I guess, kinda has to start..

  6. Everyone been following the Sporting Life 10K drama and Jay Glassman? Anyways, too lengthy to explain so I put this together http://yumkerun.blogspot.ca/2013/05/jay-glassman-on-inexperienced-runner... read more

boy, really not interested in running any of his races if his attitude towards problems is that they are the runner's fault. Especially as a mid pack runner who would most likely have been caught in that mess if I'd run that race! While I'm sure there's some truth to the issue of inexperienced runners stopping in the finish area, it's his job as the race director to anticipate that and have procedures in place to prevent it!

Huge medals and great charity aside, this type of attitude helps to ensure I won't be signing up for any of these events anytime soon. As I said to you on Twitter: What an Ass.

A well written review. Not just griping and complaining - well constructed criticism that should be observed by organizers.

wow... those finish line pics are unbelievable. I thought the scotia 2011 bag fiasco was bad. I agree with Emma's comments. There are just too many races, too close together.

My thoughts were shared by many others. I like small races a lot -- really miss the Nightcrawler 5 Miler, my favourite of the year that used to be held on the first day of summer.. A Wednesday race, after work, bbq and doughnuts. We need more of them. (They changed that one to Dawn at the Don). Midsummers Nights still has that quality and I LOVE it. Have done it every year since 2007 (its second year)

So disappointed to read about yet another debacle with these race organizers. Considering the major fuss that this race director went to get the Toronto GoodLife Marathon moved to May, you'd think they would be making better efforts at promoting this event as a major contender. So unfortunate.
