First HM in the books! :) We did pretty okay at pacing ourselves although I wish I could have sped it up a little more at the end. I had more gas in me but my legs weren't having it! 10:46/9:05/8:44/9:13/8:51/8:49/9:09/9:20/9:01/9:15/9:10/8:44/9:50 (Took an exact 1:30 to cross start line)

    Great Performance:

I still love that you beat your optimistic goal time by two seconds. That's awesome. Our first half marathon times were almost exactly the same. Way to kick butt today.

Thanks Rich! I know isn't that crazy, I wish I would have remembered... might have given me the extra push I needed that last mile. Nothing like bragging rights to motivate you!

Thanks Leah! Daniel, it's a great feeling. I'm looking to do my 2nd one soon. Which one are you doing? Are you following a training plan?

I plan on doing one out here in Oregon. Not really following a training path. Just need to slow myself down to an 8 minute mile pace. If I can do that, I should be fine.

yeah, just be disciplined at the race and stick to the predetermined pace you want to follow, no matter the temptation from the crowd or those around you. Although I'm nowhere near as fast as you, I too tend to go out faster than I would like at races. I suppose it takes time to drop those rookie mistakes. Where in Oregon? I am considering doing the Newport Marathon for my first full, scary 26.2. I've read lots of good reviews about it and it fits my criteria.

Yes Rich, the Newport Marathon in Oregon, not RI. Very nice, Dan. Best of luck! Do you happen to know the Newport area?
