Lake Merced base run 6 mi 00:59 09:45 pace

The only time I've run at Lake Merced was during Nike. I thought it was flat, but one side is a good mile long gradual incline. Adding in 20mph winds blowing sand in my face, and the busy 4 la... read more

I learned very quickly at Nike it was not flat despite it's appearance. Too many nightmares. I will never run Lake Merced again. Good job, better you than me. :)

Really? I didn't mean for it to sound hellish. I really had a great time, for 16 miles at least, and feel pretty proud of myself for getting through 26 miles even without perfect training. Plus they posted official results today and I came in 3rd (out of 5) in my age group!

I'm going to write a full recap later. Loved exploring new trails and met some cool runners. Need to build my endurance back up though - felt great until mile 18, then my legs went kaput. Stil... read more

  5. RUN
    Pt Isabel 3 mi

Easy shakeout run getting ready for tomorrow's race. Ran mostly on the gravel and packed dirt on the side of the trail. No gadgets, just watched all the pups at the dog park.

  6. RUN
    Bay farm 3.3 mi 00:31 09:21 pace

Base run after work. It's only been a week since my last run on pavement, but that hurt! Back on trails this weekend.

  7. RUN
    Hill repeats 3.3 mi

10 x 90 sec hill repeats on the Rifle Range trail. Ugh. Really hope Tim doesn't make me do these over. But I got to see Patty and a puppy at the end, so that was good.

  8. RUN
Wildcat Creek Trail 6 mi 01:00 10:02 pace

Nice early am run with Patty at Tilden. Ran this trail a little faster than usual, but it felt good. Saw so many adorable bunnies hopping around.

  12. RUN
    Alameda Southshore 4.3 mi 00:42 09:51 pace

Felt like I had a wooden leg for the first few miles, stopped and stretched for several minutes, felt better after that. Thinking I'll probably still run Quicksilver but just walk a lot.

  13. RUN
Bay Farm base run 5.6 mi 00:56 10:04 pace

Went for an easy run to see how my hamstring would do. According to my ART doc, the issue is a "frozen" hamstring/adductor, caused by muscle tightness. So I can run, but need to do some v... read more

You might have to go for 1/2 size up on the Merrells (I had to go a full size up!). I have to double knot the laces too. Are you going to try the Altras?

Are they the pace gloves? I couldn't those to fit right. And I second the heat as a likely contributor to your higher HR. Great job getting some miles in even though you didn't feel like it!
